Yosafat Delgado, better known as Yosa, was born in Mexico City and has worked for years in the film industry as an art director. Both set design and miniatures share an essential quality: they are made up of small elements and textures that together have the power to recreate deeply realistic atmospheres. In 2020, with the world on pause due to the pandemic, Yosa began exploring the world of miniatures. It was then that he noticed how many people continued working day after day at their food stalls and street carts despite the critical situation. These spaces, so representative of Mexico City’s urban landscape, have been part of its scenery for generations, though they often go unnoticed until they disappear or transform. That moment became a turning point that inspired him to create the Oficios Mexicanos collection: a tribute to those who kept working through difficult times and an homage to the country’s urban culture. Part of the collection was exhibited at the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) in Mexico City, one of the most important venues dedicated to Mexican folk art. Yosa’s works are characterized by the use of materials that faithfully reproduce the texture, wear, and spirit of real objects. He enjoys experimenting with techniques and tools that allow him to achieve detailed hyperrealism, capturing the essence and story behind each object within these urban micro-universes. Thanks to his hyperrealistic dioramas and miniatures, he has opened new doors in the art world, built his own workshop, and now works full-time doing what he loves most. Today, his digital community exceeds 200,000 followers on Instagram—an audience passionate about culture, design, and miniature art.
